Tech tools to make E-commerce look good
We've finally done a first launch of one of our partner projects, 57th & Luxe. This online e-tailer offers luxury goods from around the world, hand-sourced by our friends and partners Pui Shiau and Ariane Rassai.
There are some very interesting tools from the Drupal suite of contributed modules that are in place on this site, including an image swap - fade - zoom functionality to display product detail images, as well as Facebook integration (connecting with a Facebook account) and location mapping on the blog posts.
Users may participate in small-groups and a discussion forum, and there are ways that users may earn "Luxe Points" -- including filling out a user profile, updating their status, posting images, and participating on the site via comments and posts.
The full catalog of product items with shopping cart checkout functionality is handled through Ubercart, which is a very well-developed e-commerce tool with many hundreds of options. We've enabled live shipping quote estimation from USPS and UPS.
Finally, the products have some very beautiful photography, thanks to our photographers, stylists, and model.
As always, it's a work in progress, but I invite you to view the toolkit in action.
