My Website is Done, Now What?

""

After your website is completed, we recommend the following next steps.

A) After launch: Content, Content, Content.

Post as much high-quality content as possible, such as pages, blog entries, announcements, events, articles, photos, and product inventory.

Each single post is an additional way for a website visitor to "find" your site through their search engine.
Use your list of keywords and key phrases and incorporate those into your postings.

B) Outreach: Develop your marketing communications and social media strategy

Use your existing networks to share information about your website. For example, host a Twitter contest, a Facebook-only giveaway, a Youtube or Vimeo event, a Flickr tagfest, a Meetup, or additional promotional events.

On the tech side, make sure your RSS feeds continue to "push" your website content to your external links.

Consider working with a social media strategist or marketing coordinator for ongoing accountability to your outreach plan: view our 10K Resource Network for our recommended partners.

C) Review: Check your data

Every week, review your analytics reports for insight into how your website visitors are finding your pages.

Establish partnerships and link exchanges with other businesses and organizations in your network.

Create quality content and to refine your process.

D) Quarterly Checkins

At the 3-month mark, review your current position against your initial outreach plan.

Consider adding content and/or rearranging your navigation so your highly-visited traffics have a more prominent position on your site.

Make the instructions on your pages very clear. Provide a clear call to action on every page.

Continue to seek out mutually beneficial companies, organizations, blogs, and directories to spread the word about your product.

E) Semi-Annual and Annual Checkins

At the 6-month mark and 12-month mark, please schedule a maintenance checkin with us to review your modules list.

We use these maintenance checkins to update any items that require security updates.

We also keep you posted on new items that become available.

Congratulations on your website! Let's keep it going!
